Six partnerships that kept growing
These examples use sector descriptions to respect client and agency confidentiality. The dates show when each relationship began, and the work shows how it developed.
- 2015since 2015
A global members' network
A continuing platform relationship spanning a custom framework, Laravel API, published PHP SDK, exchange matching, wallet and identity tools. The work has included new capabilities, performance improvements and changes to the underlying infrastructure.
- 2017since 2017
A French language and cultural business
Ongoing maintenance and search work on the same web presence, followed by a two-project proposal in 2026 covering a full rebuild and a second institute site.
- 2017since 2017
A UK aesthetic laser business
Four systems developed over the relationship: an ecommerce store, a patient portal for treatment consent, an internal payroll application with role-based access and a treatment guidance app, with continuing support.
- 2018since 2018
A regional Indian news publisher
From a legacy stack to a Next.js rebuild, with a mobile app published in 2026. A complete modernisation story where the client stayed for the whole of it.
- 2021since 2021
A UK delivery and logistics operator
Delivered through an agency partner, with continuing work across the frontend and backend. Documentation and onboarding help new engineers understand the operational rules that have accumulated in the platform.
- 2021since 2021
A UK boiler cover and home emergency provider
The relationship has covered targeted conversion improvements, infrastructure diagnosis and security incident response, followed by the scope for a full rebuild as the business developed.
What staying involved looks like
Long-term support depends on maintainable systems, clear commercial decisions and knowledge that can be passed to another team.
Maintainable technology choices
Asked to bring a new stack onto a platform handling live payments, the direction was explicit: use something the team will not struggle to support later.
scope changes are priced clearly
On a fixed-design build, the change requests were separated from what was already in scope and quoted separately, so the client could decide what to prioritise.
estimates backed by delivery evidence
Challenged on a timeline, the answer was specific: two developers in parallel, five weeks covered development only, with testing and revisions estimated separately.
the right scope from the start
A client specified leave management at the depth of a dedicated HR platform inside a field-sales app. We declined and triaged it into a later phase.
Reviewing software costs
A paid migration tool flagged for cancellation two days before renewal once the bulk work no longer needed it, and the client was informed before the renewal.
handover as a planned ending
Store setup, tester invitations and production deployment taught to the client, then the repository transferred, with the team prepared to manage future releases.

Frequently asked questions
Is a long engagement just lock-in?
A long relationship should remain a choice. We agree ownership and access from the start and plan for handover. On a mobile build, for example, handover covered store setup, tester invitations and production deployment as well as repository transfer.
What actually keeps a client for eight years?
Continuity and practical support: understanding the system, resolving operational issues, explaining trade-offs and reviewing costs as needs change. Examples from our work include diagnosing server capacity issues, fixing certificate renewal and identifying subscriptions no longer needed after a migration.
Do you turn work down?
Yes, and it is part of the same thing. We declined to quote an SEO programme that could not be delivered on the platform the client was then running, and said why. The work came back later on a platform where it could be done properly.
What if we want to leave?
We support a planned handover of the repository, deployment process, documentation and access. Third-party licences and ongoing operational responsibilities are made clear in the agreement.
